Windshield Mounted PIAA Driving Lamps

re:  2001 TJ Wrangler

I'm thinking of drilling through the side mirror relocation brackets, then through the side body wall to feed the wiring of the lamps to an interior switch.  I'm looking for suggestions on where I can find a rubber gasket that will seal the hole, and secure the wiring to keep these entry points dry.

I would appreciate any suggestions, or alternatives.

Thanks.

Re: Windshield Mounted PIAA Driving Lamps

I would find a way to get the leads off the lights down to the engine compartment first.  Then either use an existing hole or make a hole through the firewall.  I usually go through somewhere around the steering shaft or under the master cylinder.  This puts you in the area you want to be in for getting power from the fuse block.  And it also makes it a lot easier to clean up the wires and get them out of the way.  Hope this helps.  Also... I probably wouldn't mount those on mirror brackets.  I would buy a set of those KC light brackets that bolt on where the windshield hinges are.  Those mirror brackets are gonna let those lights bounce around. I had a set of those KC brackets and liked them a lot.  No light vibration at all.  Just my .02

Re: Windshield Mounted PIAA Driving Lamps

Thanks Krawler.  I like your suggestion better... to get power from the fuse block.  fyi... I did get the KC windshield mounts for the driving lamps.  Thanks for your input.  Larry
